Rapid City’s NewsCenter1 brought its cameras to our Hill City shop for this feature on the Turtle Town candy counter, with general manager April Purdie giving the tour — the fudge, the bear paws, and how it all gets made.
In this issue, Food Network Magazine covered all things chocolate, including an “On the Road” article featuring monumental chocolate replicas of famous National Monuments.
Turtle Town’s chocolate replica of Mt. Rushmore National Monument was one such featured candy.
First Lady Michelle Obama and her two daughters, Sasha and Malia, were visiting Mt. Rushmore National Monument and the Black Hills of South Dakota during the spring of 2012. They concluded their visit to Mount Rushmore by visiting Turtle Town’s store in nearby Keystone.
Rock star Ozzy Osbourne stopped by Turtle Town in Hill City, SD during the fall of 2015 while he was in the Black Hills reportedly visiting Mount Rushmore, the Badlands, and Wall Drug.
